  • Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Emergency Preparedness and Response Exchange Requirements

    Emergency Management
    2020

In a public health crisis, the Centers for Disease Prevention and Control (CDC) must be ready to respond quickly and to scale, bringing highly trained experts together to respond faster, make better decisions, and manage resources most effectively. The exponential growth of all‐hazard Public Health (PH) Emergency Management (EM) data, combined with the lack of interoperable data exchange, impeded effective Whole‐of‐America emergency response due to the inability to rapidly transform critical data into decision generating analytics and products.

  • NIEM Improves Data Interoperability For Cyberspace Operations Program

    Military Operations
    2019

The Program Office – Joint Technical Coordinating Group for Munitions Effectiveness Product Team built a fully NIEM conformant Joint Non-Kinetic Effectiveness (JNKE) Information Exchange Package Documentation (IEPD). The team established a data standard for improving interoperability and information sharing between the U.S. Service Components and other federal agencies.

By utilizing a NIEM approach, the team improved data interoperability in the rapidly evolving cyberspace domain. The team has demonstrated the timeliness of NIEM-based data exchange implementations in helping to fulfill

  • NIEM Supports Rapid Biometrics Data Sharing Across U.S. Government Agencies and International Partners

    Biometrics Screening
    2019

The Project Management Office (PM DoD Biometrics) developed the DNA Prototype to leverage the rapid DNA capabilities developed by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Office of Biometric Identity Management (OBIM). The DNA Exchange Schema utilizes elements from the NIEM Core and domains (including NIEM’s Biometrics and Screening domains). The NIEM messaging interfaces facilitate data sharing among U.S. government agencies and international partners. This model provides biological identification and relationship (kinship) testing and utilizes pedigree to assist with identifying fraud and
