For the third year in a row, the NIEM Biometrics Domain (NBD), under the stewardship of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Office of Biometric Identity Management (OBIM), will provide NIEM and Biometrics Domain Training at the Global Identity Summit (GIS) in Tampa, Fla. Diane Stephens of DHS OBIM, who serves as the Chair of the Biometrics Domain, will join NBD DoD Co-Chair William Graves, NBD Program Manager Kamran Atri, and NBD team member Shuchita Bora to facilitate the session.
The NBD training session will take place on Monday, September 21, from 2 to 5 p.m. and will include:
- an overview of NIEM (framework, mission, and goals)
- NIEM Biometrics Domain activity highlights, including schema development, domain-to-domain alignment, and harmonization
- NIEM 3.1-3.2 preparation, as well as information related to available technical assistance, including working group and tiger team formation and utilization
The session is approved for continuing education credit - 3 CompTIA CEUs for A+, Network+, Security+, and CASP; 3 GIAC CPEs.
The 2015 GIS kicks off is Monday, September 21, with sessions through Thursday, September 24. The event will host speakers from both the public and private sectors, as well as vendor and service providers from the identity management sector.
