NIEM 2.1 Beta Release—Take a Test Drive Today!
The progress on NIEM 2.1 has hit another major milestone in the progress toward a production release at the 2009 NIEM National Training Event on September 30!
We are pleased to announce that the Beta release of NIEM 2.1 is now available and open to the public for testing, review, and comment! This is your chance for a sneak preview of the many new additions and improvements to the model (for details on what's in NIEM 2.1, see the July 2009 edition of NIEM News). More important, this is your opportunity to take NIEM 2.1 for a test drive and provide feedback to the NIEM Program.
To begin, simply click here or copy this link: http://niemstaging.ittl.gtri.org/niemtools/home.iepd and paste it into your Web browser. NIEM 2.1 Beta and the accompanying testing (nonproduction!) toolset are available at that link. It looks a lot like the production version of NIEM Tools. Note the phrase "niemstaging" in the Web site address and the "Release: NIEM-2.1" subtitle on the SSGT page—reminding you that you are on the testing site.
To report any bugs, submit feedback, and ask questions about the release, simply send an e-mail to the National Information Sharing Standards help desk at nisshelp@ijis.org. Make sure to type NIEM 2.1-Beta1 in the subject header. NO guarantee on response time on issues, but we will track them all for consideration in the next release.
The deadline for feedback is Tuesday, August 18, at 8:00 p.m. Eastern time. The testing time period is admittedly rather short, but this allows sufficient time to accommodate all feedback and still release NIEM 2.1 into production ahead of the 2009 NIEM National Training Event.
Please Note: The schema and the tools are for testing only and should not be used at this point to develop any production exchanges.
Enjoy the test drive!
