Funding Opportunities
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) Federal Emergency Management Agency released Fiscal Year (FY) 2009 Application Guidance for 14 federal grant programs, totaling more than $3 billion available in federal funding, to assist state and local governments in strengthening community preparedness. Applications for the HSGP programs are due no later than March 20, 2009 (see http://www.dhs.gov/xnews/releases/pr_1225900531284.shtm for the official press release released on November 5, 2008).
If you are looking for NIEM training or NIEM implementation funding assistance related to building and sustaining national preparedness capabilities, these opportunities may apply to you. As we know, NIEM is a critical enabler for sharing of information related to preparedness. The grant funds can support a wide range of preparedness activities to include planning, organization, equipment purchase, training, management, and administrative costs. The submission of applications will come directly from your state administrative agency (SAA); projects should be coordinated at the state and local levels in consultation with your SAA. The SAA is the only entity eligible to apply for HSGP funds.
