Online Course Description
This Practical Implementer’s Course instructs participants in how to use the National Information Exchange Model (NIEM) by breaking it down into two distinct parts: The first part covers XML concepts required to understand and work with NIEM. The second part addresses higher-level implementation concepts and the steps necessary to build an information exchange using NIEM.
The course contains 17 content modules that include over 8 hours of video presentations. It is difficult to estimate how long it will take to complete the course, but a general estimate would be 16 to 20 hours.

Evaluation
In order to receive the NIEM Practical Implementer’s Course completion certificate, participants must complete the self-assessment tests and the Capstone Exercise listed on the course menu. This exercise requires fulfilling the necessary steps in building an IEPD. The Capstone Exercise is very simple, and after listening and participating in the NIEM course, you should have no problem completing it. The Capstone Exercise will be graded using a pass/fail system. The e-instructor reviewing your response will determine whether the submitted response shows a basic understanding of the material covered in the course.
There are also a number of multiple-choice questions that must be answered and submitted to your online instructor in order to receive your certification. A passing grade of 60 percent is required on these questions in order to receive your NIEM certificate of completion. Once it has been determined that the material submitted is satisfactory, the certification will be forwarded to you.
